How to make your copywriting sell.

It’s one thing being able to write well and to follow the AIDA formula and entirely another to get your readers to part with their hard-earned cash, all on the strength of the copy you’ve put in front of them.

To make your uk copywriting sell, you have to approach it in the same way a good salesman or saleswoman would. Now, good sales people have a plan and a formulaic way of taking the sale to its conclusion: where the customer or client actually gives you the money in exchange for your products or services.

So it makes sense to look at your letters in the same way - almost as a “salesman in an envelope”.

Because of that, you don’t randomly jot down your words onto the page and hope they hang together; nor do you just ramble on telling a story hoping your message will get over and the reader will get the hint and pass her money over. She won’t.

Probably the simplest and one of the most powerful methods to use when writing marketing copy is the PSA formula:

Problem – identify the problem or pain your reader is experiencing or feeling. Remember, they’re not interested in features and what you can “do”. They have problems and they want them solving. Show them you understand their problems and their pain, and they’ll feel that emotional connection with you.
Agitate – twist the knife. Use strong, emotional copy and make the pain worse. This might sound manipulative, but it’s not, not if you genuinely believe your products and services are really in their best interests.
Solve – you offer the solution plainly and simply. You become your readers' “lucky rabbit's foot”. If you can genuinely solve their problem and soothe their pain, it’s your duty to do what it takes to make your copywriting sell.
